Meet Cori – brand strategist, pie enthusiast, and the organizational wizard behind Second Shooter Digital. After years of helping startups, not-for-profits and corporations tell their stories and documenting the journey of farmers’ market vendors in Nova Scotia, she finally found her perfect blend: combining her love for small business with her knack for digital strategy.
When she’s not crafting SEO magic or sharing popcorn with her rescue dog Gravy, you’ll find her hiking trails with her partner Harry (who, fun fact, accidentally kickstarted this whole business by making one fateful introduction in New Zealand).
Jane: The Execution
Introducing Jane – SEO expert, “retired” digital nomad, and technical powerhouse at Second Shooter Digital.
Stranded in Thailand with little cash and big dreams, Jane posted in a Facebook group on a whim—and scored her first remote job writing for a travel blog. That gig became the launchpad for 5 glorious years of globetrotting, working remotely as a digital nomad everywhere from Morocco to Myanmar. By 2019, Life in the Fast Jane was born, a flourishing freelance business helping small and medium-sized brands master the digital world with savvy SEO techniques.
When she’s not deep into keyword research, you can catch Jane sipping espresso on Parisian terraces or ripping through the city on a bike—at least until her next adventure calls.
How we met is kind of a funny story….
Plot twist: This whole business started because two adventure-seeking digital nomads couldn’t sit still long enough to get “real” jobs.
Okay, setting the scene: Jane, living her best van life in New Zealand, hopping from beach to beach with a laptop and a dream. Meanwhile, Cori was attacking the country from the opposite direction, armed with hiking boots and an ancient Honda CRV that was more “character” than “car.” (Her name was Mandy, and yes, she deserves this mention. RIP to her functioning air conditioning.)
Now, in any normal universe, these paths wouldn’t have crossed. But thanks to a wine bar in Auckland, a guy named Harry, and the universal truth that the freelance world is impossibly small, magic happened.
It started simply enough: in 2020, Jane needed an assistant, and Harry, who Jane worked with at a wine bar, suggested she chat with Cori (his partner and better half). Suddenly, we were collaborating on multiple projects across time zones – it was a match made in heaven from our first Zoom call. From managing a massive U.S. media company to developing custom strategy for a huge German business, over five years of working side by side, we discovered we have an uncanny knack for making digital magic together.
It’s a cute story, sure, but those nomadic days working across various industries taught us something crucial: the best businesses aren’t built on fancy offices or corporate structures – they’re built on understanding exactly what your client needs (and a kickass partner helps, too).
We both spent time working with photographers during our travels, which showed us just how many talented artists were struggling to build an online presence. We saw stunning portfolios buried in search results, brilliant photographers losing bookings to mediocre competition, and don’t even get us started on the SEO advice being passed around photography forums.
So we did what any reasonable people would do: we combined Jane’s tech obsession with Cori’s brand-building wizardry and created the SEO agency we wish had existed for all those photographers we met along the way.
Turns out, sometimes you have to travel to the literal bottom of the world to find your business soulmate – and your perfect niche. Who knew?
(And yes, we’ve upgraded from car WiFi and phone hotspots to actual offices these days. But that same problem-solving spirit? It still drives everything we do.)
